Benedict Cumberbatch spoke highly of Peter Capaldi recently to the Big Issue. Cumberbatch, who starred alongside Capaldi in ‘The Fifth Estate’ commented on the New Doctor:

“It’s great news. I’m very excited to see him in Doctor Who,
He is a class act, Peter, and a great actor.”

The Master is heavily rumoured to be returning to Doctor Who in Series 8, and once again, Sherlock’s Cumberbatch has been linked for the role. Benedict recently spoke about wanting to be known as a ‘Actor’ and not just Sherlock. Series 4 of Sherlock could begin filming in the Summer, potentially clashing with the closing ends of the Doctor Who Series 8 production.

Sherlock is due to return at Christmas 2014 for a Special, after the BBC appeared to want Sherlock back on the screens sooner, rather than later. Doctor Who returns in the late Autumn for a full series, includling a Christmas Special.

Benedict already is highly known for his other characters, not just by Sherlock.
He would be great as The Master.
I’d love to see him in Doctor Who.

You have a special place in my heart Benedict! :)

    Love from Brazil.

I think it’s safe to assume that Peter Capaldi’s reign as The Doctor will be relatively short. Maybe BC should hold out and audition to be the next Doctor.

Why’s that, then? I have a feeling, given his reaction from fans, that his tenure will be a long and outstanding one.

    • JC De La Torre says:

Yes, I have no idea what gave you that idea. I know many a fan who can’t wait for Capaldi.

I’ve met few fans of the series who aren’t expecting brilliance from him.

He loved Doctor Who so I don’t see any reason why he’d pull an Eccelston.

    • Akshun says:

Cumberbatch was pretty much already offered the role and the only reason Matt Smith became the doctor was because Cumberbatch turned it down.. if he didn’t want to do it then no way he would do it now

      • Ham says:

That’s not necessarily true! Eccleston was offered the role of the 8th doctor back in the 90s but he turned it down. Years later he’s the 9th doctor. So never say never. Cumberbatch could be the next doctor!

  3. Pekka Sorri says:

I could not think of better actor to take the spot of The Master.
And Cumberbatch is one of my favorite actors of all time, he is just brilliant. With his pair of eyebrows we could get The Master a bit of a classic touch :D

  4. The Advocate says:

Cumberbatch would be outstanding as The Master. He was absolutely chilling as Khan.

  5. Aldo-timelord says:

Jacobi or Charles Dance. Bennedict would also be good.

  6. Rob Potter says:

I think Cumberbatch would be an awesome Master. Benedict has a lighter side and a darker side. I think that is exactly The Master’s personality.
